Sustainable Future: Organic Matter Management and Water Retention in Soils

ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA 2026 Environmental Industry, Waste and Water Management and Sustainability Exhibition, 7–9 October 2026, HUNGEXPO

The Hungarian Soil Protection Association is organising a professional roundtable discussion examining the deterioration of agricultural soils and the sustainability of crop production. Over the past decade, the condition of Hungary’s agricultural soils has deteriorated significantly. Climate change, extreme precipitation patterns, the increasing number of hot days and water scarcity pose growing challenges for agriculture. The aim of the roundtable is to present, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, the possibilities for restoring soil life, the key role of organic matter management and water retention, as well as the directions of sustainable cultivation systems.
